Besednice Moldavite meditation aura stone

Thirty-eight millimeters long, fourteen wide, eleven deep. Those three measurements  SKU QQ-36, 7.17 grams  describe one of the most geometrically striking profiles in this collection. The 38mm length is by far the dominant dimension, giving the stone a clear directional character. But the depth at 11mm is almost equal to the 14mm width, which means the cross-section of this stone is very nearly a perfect square. The result is a long, full-bodied rod of natural Czech Moldavite glass rather than a flat elongated chip.

That square cross-section changes everything about how the stone feels in the hand. Holding it lengthwise, you feel the same dimension beneath your fingers whether the stone is oriented vertically or horizontally in the grip. It does not feel flat or planar  it feels like a solid natural cylinder. The 11mm of glass behind the 14mm face is clearly present, and it adds a depth of interior color when the stone is held sideways to a light source that flat pieces of the same weight simply cannot produce.

The 38mm length gives the natural surface texture a long run. The organically formed ridges and channels of genuine Czech Moldavite cover the full face, and the 11mm depth means those features are also present and visible along both long edges of the stone. The deep forest green is consistent from end to end. Rotating this piece slowly under a light source is a particularly engaging experience  the play of light across 38mm of natural tektite glass surface changes significantly with each degree of rotation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a rod-form Czech Moldavite?

A rod-form Moldavite is a specimen where the length is significantly greater than both the width and depth, and where the width and depth are similar to each other  creating an elongated, cylindrical or rod-like shape. This 7.17 gr piece at 38x14x11mm is a good example: it extends 38mm in length while the 14x11mm cross-section is nearly square.

How does a square cross-section affect the way Moldavite looks under light?

A square cross-section means the stone has significant glass depth (11mm) relative to its face width (14mm). When held sideways to a light source, this depth creates a rich, layered interior glow rather than the quick, flat translucency of thin pieces. The light has more glass to travel through, producing a deeper, more complex green.

Can raw Moldavite be used in jewelry settings?

Yes. Long slim pieces like this 38x14mm specimen are well-suited to wire wrap pendant settings where the 38mm length creates an elegant vertical display. The 11mm depth keeps the piece from being flat against the chest, giving it three-dimensional presence when worn. Contact us to discuss specific setting options.
